Western Naval Command: Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi appointed next Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Naval Command | India News



NEW DELHI: Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi has been appointed as the next flag officer commanding-in-chief (FOC-in-C) of the Western Naval Command, which is the ‘sword arm’ of the Navy and based in Mumbai.
Vice Admiral Tripathi, who was commissioned in the Navy in July 1985 and is the chief of personnel at the Naval HQs in Delhi at present, will take over the reins of the WNC on March 1.
A specialist in communication and electronic warfare, the officer has commanded warships INS Vinash, INS Kirch and INS Trishul as well as held various important operational and staff appointments, which include director-general of naval operations and assistant chief of naval staff (policy and plans), during his career.
After commanding the country’s Eastern Fleet in 2018-2019, Vice Admiral Tripathi was appointed the commandant of the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala, Kerala. He has also attended the Naval Higher Command Course and Naval Command College at the US Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island in 2007-08, where he won the prestigious Robert Bateman International Prize.
