‘Sleeper’ Vande Bharat variant by December: Minister | India News

NEW DELHI: Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said the first Vande Bharat with sleeper berths facility will be ready by this year-end and prototype of the first Vande Metro in a year.
The national transporter also expects the maiden run of country’s first Bullet train in July-August, 2026. The railway minister said progress of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project is moving fast and the tender for rolling stock (trains) will be out this year.
Vaishnaw said while the current Vande Bharat trains cater to the need of 500-600 m journey, the Vande Metro shuttle can ply on 100km routes between two cities. Speaking about the Bullet train project on a private TV channel, Vaishnaw said pillars on 140km stretch have been built, eight rivers have been bridged and all 13 stations in Maharashtra are almost ready for the train, which will run at 320 kmph.
