Shinde: Symbol mortgaged to Congress-NCP has been freed: Shinde | India News

MUMBAI: Welcoming the decision of the Election Commission to recognise his faction as the Shiv Sena, CM Ekanth Shinde said that truth had won and called it a victory of democracy.
Responding to Uddhav Thackeray’s comments after the EC decision, Shinde said it had become the norm for the rival group to cry “murder of democracy” and “democracy is in danger” whenever any decision went against it, as it was now doing over the loss of the bow and arrow symbol.
“This is nothing but double standards and the EC’s decision has shown them their place. They had mortgaged the bow and arrow symbol to the Congress and NCP in 2019 and I have freed that bow and arrow today. The EC and SC are independent entities and you can’t make such low-level allegations against them. If the decision had come in their favour, they would have said that democracy is alive, but that didn’t happen so they are making the allegations,” he said.
Shinde said the Thackeray group was trying to garner sympathy to retain workers. He said the ideology and thoughts of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray and late party heavyweight Anand Dighe had won. “They said we are thieves … . So are 50 MLAs, 13 MPs and lakhs of workers thieves? So all those who left are thieves and only you are right? You must introspect; how can you always be right?” he said.
Chief minister Shinde said the EC decision was a victory for Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution. He said he did not want to comment on what Sanjay Raut was saying.
In Thane, MP Shrikant Shinde said it was a victory for the efforts taken by his CM father to carry forward the ideology of Balasaheb.
