Sam Smith Attacked as ‘Pedophile,’ Accused of ‘Grooming the Kids’ After Controversial Grammys Performance

Sam Smith was seemingly the victim of harassment while out in New York City this week.

The 30-year-old “Unholy” Grammy winner was labeled a “pedophile” and “demonic” amongst other hateful slurs in a video that has emerged on social media.

The backlash comes after they and collaborator Kim Petras were attacked by some conservatives and Christians for their performance at the 2023 Grammys. If you missed it, they took the stage and delivered a Satan-themed rendition of their chart-topping hit during the awards show.

In a 30-second clip obtained by the Daily News, an onlooker appeared to accost Sam as they were walking around in Central Park.

“You belong in hell,” they shouted at the star. “Sam Smith belongs in hell. You demonic, twisted, sick b-stard.”

The hate continued, with Sam being labeled a “sick f-cker,” “evil” and a “pedophile.”

Another onlooked shouted that they were a “groomer,” which led to the original assailant saying that they were “grooming the kids.”

Sam seemingly refused to acknowledge the hateful diatribe and walked away. They have previously spoken about the hate that they received after changing their pronouns in 2020.

Photos emerged of Sam on Wednesday (February 15) wearing what appears to be the same outfit they have on in the video. This helps provide an idea regarding when the hateful attack took place.

We hope Sam is alright after that encounter.

Despite attracting hate for their Grammys set, Sam and Kim performed “Unholy” at the 2023 BRIT Awards, too.
