Rs 10 lakh drone with 5 kg of heroin shot down on Pakistan border | India News

AMRITSAR: PunjabPolice and the Border Security Force (BSF) teamed up to shoot down ahigh-tech drone estimated to be worth Rs 10 lakh on Saturday night in the Kakkar border outpost (BOP) area. The forces seized 5kg heroin during a search operation after the UAV, ahexacopter, was shot down — the sixth such incident in lessthan two months.
SSP Swapan Sharma said upon noticing drone movemen t on the Indo-Pak border, police shared inputs with the BSF and jointly conducted a search operation in the area of Kakkar village, 2km from the Indo-Pak border. He said police teams fired at least 12 burstfires from AK-47s and shotdown the drone, a hybrid sixwinged UAV assembled with parts manufactured in USA and China, and equipped with hi-tech features, in cluding long-lasting battery backup, infrared-based night vision camera, and GPSsystem. He said police had r ounded up two personsfromspot when they were trying to escape.
