‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ Star Jen Shah Surrenders to Texas to Begin 6.5 Year Sentence

Jen Shah has reported to prison to begin her six and a half year sentence.

The 49-year-old Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star surrendered to the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas on Friday (February 17) after pleading guilty to criminal fraud charges stemming from an alleged telemarketing scheme, TMZ reports.

The FPC Bryan is a minimum-security facility for women and is located about 100 miles northeast of Austin and 100 miles northwest of Houston.

This will be the same prison that disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes will report to in April 2023 to serve her 11-year sentence.

Before reporting to prison, Jen released a statement through her lawyer.

“Jen Shah’s resolve to make her victims whole and to turn her life around is unyielding,” Priya Chaudhry told Us Weekly. “She is committed to serving her sentence with courage and purpose, fueled by her desire to make amends for the hurt she has caused and to help others in her new community. No obstacle will deter Jen from making the most of her time in prison and she’s determined to make restitution to those whose lives she has impacted.”

In April 2021, Jen and her assistant Stuart Smith were arrested for for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in a telemarketing scam. At the time, she maintained her innocence after the arrest and pleaded not guilty to the charges, while Stuart plead guilty in November 2021.

After months of claiming she was innocent, Jen entered a guilty plea during her court appearance in July 2022.

In January 2023, Jen was sentenced to 78 months, which is six years and six months, in prison and will be subject to five years of supervised release once she gets out.

Jen was also ordered to attend a mental health treatment program once she is released from prison.
