Powerful blast hits resto-bar in Goa; cops yet to confirm cause | India News

PANAJI: A high intensity blast ripped through the ‘In & Out Hill Top Bar & Restaurant’ at Mapusa in Goa in the early hours of Sunday, providing a rude awakening for residents in the vicinity. While there was no loss of life, assets close to Rs 40 lakh were damaged.
According to fire officials, the blast that was captured on camera, occurred at 5.53am. Though officials suspected a cylinder blast, they later found that the two cylinders at the site were intact. The owner of the restaurant Pramila Mayekar alleged foul play. She said residents were unhappy that a bar was operating in the locality.
A bomb disposal squad and a team from the forensic science laboratory were called to find if explosives were used. However, police said “they have not found any explosives”. They suspect the blast took place due to a cylinder or a short circuit from the compressor of an AC or refrigerator.
Authorities said seven flats, one bungalow, three cars, and three two-wheelers were damaged
