No coercive steps against Rakhi Sawant till next hearing on February 1 | India News

MUMBAI: Bombay high court on Tuesday was informed that no coercive steps will be taken by police against actor Rakhi Sawant till February 1 in a case where she is alleged to have used an objectionable video in a public event. An oral statement to this effect made by additional public prosecutor SV Gavand on Monday who said no coercive action will be taken against her nor will she be arrested till the next date was continued by him on Tuesday.
Sawant had on Monday filed an anticipatory bail plea before high court.
The single Judge bench of Justice M S Karnik on Monday had scheduled to hear the matter on Tuesday.
Another actor Sherlyn Chopra was personally present before the HC bench and her advocate appeared sought time for filing her intervention Application to oppose Sawant’s pre-arrest bail application and hence the matter was adjourned by the HC.
Her pre-arrest bail plea was recently rejected by the trial court in a case filed by a model alleging that Sawant had used objectionable language and video in a public event. Sawant was booked for offences under sections 354 (A) (sexual harassment), 504 (insult intended to provoke), 509 (word or gesture intended to insult modesty of woman), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian penal code (IPC) and section 67 A of the Information Technology Act.
