Here are the key highlights
*The 246 km expressway has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 12,150 crore.
*The expressway marks the beginning of a new chapter of economic growth in the region.
*The Prime Minister said it is one of the largest and most modern expressway. “It presents the developed face of India,” he said.
*PM Modi, in his address in Rajasthan’s Dausa, said: “When such modern roads, railway stations, metro, and airports are built, the country’s progress gains momentum.”
*”For the last nine years, the central government is continuously making huge investments in infrastructure. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor are going to become two strong pillars of progress for Rajasthan and the country,” PM Modi said.
*”‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ is our mantra for nation, we are making ‘Samarth Bharat’ while following it,” PM Modi also said.
*Earlier in the day, Union minister Nitin Gadkari inspected the control room of the expressway in Sohna, Haryana. State-of-the-art technology has been used in the control room for the safety of passengers and to help them in case of emergency.
*Gadkari said that the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai will reduce to barely 12 hours after the entire expressway is completed.
*Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari, Union MoS VK Singh, Union minister Gajendra Singh and other leaders were present on the stage at the function.
*Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal khattar addressed the programme through a video link. While Gehlot joined from the chief minister’s residence in Jaipur, Khattar addressed the programme from a function held in Nuh district.
*PM Modi on Sunday also laid foundation stone of four-lane Bandikui Expressway, six-lane Kotputli Alwar Delhi Mumbai Interchange and two-lane Paved Shoulder Lalsot Karoli Project in Dausa.
