NEW DELHI: The counting of votes for Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland assembly elections, that was held in the February, began on Thursday morning under three tiers of security that included central paramilitary personnel.
Meghalaya and Nagaland went for assembly polls on February 27 and voting was held in Tripura on February 16. The three states witnessed high voter turnout. The postal ballots would be counted first and then the EVM votes.
According to election officials, prohibitory orders have been issued as a precaution in and near all counting centres.
Each Assembly constituency has a General Observer designated by the Election Commission, and various additional officials, including as micro-observers and counting supervisors, have been chosen to oversee the counting.
