Morgan Evans’ New Docuseries Explores Kelsea Ballerini Divorce & Heartbreak Single ‘Over for You’

Morgan Evans has released his own docuseries, centering on the release of his hit single, “Over For You”.
The 37-year-old Aussie born country singer released a series of five videos, which was focused on his return to his home country. However, the videos also show Morgan‘s side of things during his split and divorce from Kelsea Ballerini.

“The whole idea was to document the biggest show of my career, playing the CMC Rocks Festival in Australia and headlining it,” Morgan told CMT about the release. “The original focus (of the documentary) was on the music and coming home, and that’s what it’s about.”
He then added, “But it’s not like I could pretend like something wasn’t going on. That’s the journey of what happened in that moment of my life.”
One of the episodes focuses solely on the impromptu performance Morgan gave of “Over For You”, which he had no plans of playing.
“It was unpracticed, and I actually played it in the wrong key,” he shared. “There was just something about that moment. It was the moment in the show where I was going to sit at the piano and play a song solo anyway. I had planned to play a different song, but in that moment, it just felt like something that I needed to do and needed to say.”
He stated that the track is the most authentic song he’s written so far in his career, and was nervous about releasing it because of its contents.
“It sort of became everyone else’s for their own situation in life,” he says. “The most rewarding part of having released this song is the connection that I’ve had with people going through something or that it’s helping them through or helping them to explain a time in their life or any of those things. When I woke up the next day and realized that the song had made its way into a lot of other people’s lives already, I felt like it sort of became a responsibility to.”
Morgan‘s docuseries seems to be in response to Kelsea‘s own short film and EP, Rolling up the Welcome Mat, which she released earlier this month.
Kelsea appeared on a podcast just last week, where she called out Morgan about the song and his comments on their split. Morgan replied shortly after.
