J&K reclaims high-value land illegally occupied by PDP neta | India News

SRINAGAR: The J&K administration on Saturday retrieved 100 kanals of land illegally occupied by several people in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, which included 15 kanals of high-value orchard land encroached upon by PDP member and former finance minister Haseeb Drabu.
Revenue officials who carried out the eviction drive demolished the outer wall of the orchard.
The government’s zero-tolerance policy was aimed at ensuring land was used for public benefit alone, said an official, adding the drive against encroachment would continue.
Drabu, who now lives in Mumbai, originally hails from Pulwama. He has also “inherited” government land from his father at Gojibagh in Srinagar. The ex-finance minister and his brother deposited a meagre amount for the Gojibagh house and land under the Roshni scheme, which, too, has been in the eye of a storm in the Valley.
