Guleria: Need to mask up and follow hand hygiene again: Dr Randeep Guleria | India News

NAGPUR: Sounding a caution regarding the ongoing influenza H3N2 spread, Dr Randeep Guleria, who had led the national Covid task force, said there is a need for people to use face masks, and follow hand hygiene, reports Sarfaraz Ahmed.
He also said the high-risk group must be kept isolated like it was done during the Covid pandemic.
Guleria said either people can follow Covid-apt behaviour (CAB) and delay immunity to other viruses now, or protect the vulnerable groups and take vaccines.
On CAB further delaying immunity, he said, “The second option is to keep the high-risk group, like the elderly and comorbid people isolated, and push for vaccination. Vaccines will give the same type of immunity without having the illness.”
He said influenza jab comes as a new vaccine every year and quadrivalent vaccine covers both influenza A & B and their subtypes.
