Ahead of R-Day, 2 IEDs recovered in Rajouri | India News

JAMMU: Two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered by security forces near Rajouri town in Jammu and Kashmir late Sunday evening. Security forces are on high alert across J&K in view of the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra and upcoming Republic Day celebrations and a fresh alert was issued following two blasts on Saturday in Narwal locality of Jammu.
Police sources said the recovery was made during a joint operation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police, the Army and CRPF in Dassal area. “During the search operation, the security forces recovered two IEDs, which were later destroyed in a controlled manner by a bomb disposal squad in the forest area of Chingus,” said a source.
A case under Explosive Act was registered and further investigations were initiated.
Meanwhile, J&K Police also clarified that a suspicious object with lights found in Rajouri’s Kandi area was not an IED. Claiming that the area was thoroughly sanitised by security forces, police asked people not to panic and refrain from spreading rumours.
